Teenage's body found in the Westmoreland River jamaica

Jamaica's Westmoreland Following three days of intense search efforts, the body of a teenager who had trouble swimming in the Cabarita River near Big Bridge, Westmoreland, was discovered on Wednesday.

Juneay 'Junior' McKoy, 18, of a Manchester address has been identified as the man.

McKoy's body was found, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shaunjaye Mitchell, Zone Four Commander for Little London and the Negril Division, who spoke with Observer Online.

"Just after 3 p.m., it was discovered 500 meters from the bridge; the marine police were dispatched to the location. The body was recovered with help from the public and police," Mitchell said.

There were no signs of violence on his person, but he did state that investigations are still underway and a post mortem would be performed to ascertain the cause of death.

Denise Morgan, McKoy's mother, expressed her gratitude to the Big Bridge community for their persistent efforts in locating her son's remains, despite the fact that the incident has shocked her.

Morgan stated to Observer Online on Wednesday night, "I am thankful, I am delighted I have my son's body to bury, and thank you to everyone, including the ladies of Big Bridge."

It was a devastating loss for McKoy, who had come to Westmoreland three weeks prior with his cousin to work on a construction job.

Additionally thanking the fisherman who assisted in locating McKoy is his cousin Floyd "Souljie" Smith.

"Big up to the fishermen from Big Bridge!" claimed Smith.

In addition, he is pushing the government to provide fisherman access to diving equipment, saying that these tools might potentially save lives.

"We are requesting assistance and gear for the fisherman. He applauded, "We are grateful to the two fisherman that assisted us today.

Residents of the community expressed relief but also sadness about the deaths.

A community woman named Linda Anderson tried to advise anyone considering going into the river.

The water is misleading, so you have to be careful when leaping. The depth is great, and the underwater current is powerful. An inexperienced swimmer will run into trouble, she said.

Little London Division councilor Ian Myles, who supported the family by visiting the river on Sunday, complimented the neighborhood for locating McKoy.

"I would want to express my gratitude to Egypt Gardens' residents as well as those in the neighborhood for their bravery and thoughtfulness. The corpse was recovered by a 15-year-old. Myles emphasized that the essence of community spirit is shown via genuine gratitude and enthusiastic applause.
